Introduction 

The Taekwondo Culture Expo: where dreams, friendship, the spirit of youth and the future of Taekwondo all meet under one roof.

The Expo is the representative festival of Taekwondo athletes and takes place in the home of Taekwondo-Muju and Jeonjum in Jeollabuk-do Province, Korea. Programs include not only Taekwondo competitions (Pumsae-movement, Gyeorugi-sparring, Taekwondo aerobics), but also Taekwondo performances, cultural activities and sightseeing tours of Muju, Buan and Jeonju. These colorful events are presented in order to give international Taekwondo practitioners a chance to learn more about the culture of Jeollabuk-do province and Korea as a whole.

  • Opening Ceremony: July 3, 2010 18:00~21:30 / Muju Dome Stadium
  • Dinner for instructors: July 5, 2010 18:00~19:30 / Muju Resort, Hotel Tirol
  • Cultural Activities: July 4, 2010 ~ July 6 09:00~17:30 / Muju, Jeonju and other areas in the Jeollabuk-do Province

  • Muju Cultural Experiences: Anguksa Temple, Meoru Tunnel, Muju Gucheon-dong Valley, Baekryeonsa Temple, Bandi Land, Taekwondo Park
  • Jeonju Hanok (traditional house) Village: Omokdae Pavilion, Crafts Exhibition Hall, Hanjiwon
  • Various museums
  • Life experience halls
  • Traditional markets
  • Buan Experience: Saemangeum Embankment, Chaeseokgang Cliff, Gyeokpo Beach

  • Foods: Bibimbap, Tteok (race cake)-making, Kimchi-making

  • Taekwondo Culture: Sparring, Pumsae (movement), Art of Self-defense, Taekwondo Demonstration, Taekwondo Aerobics
  • Traditional Culture: Traditional Plays, Samulnori (traditional Korean percussion quartet), Tteok-making (pounding rice with a large hammer), the musical ‘Nanta’
